Our family should win the makeover contest not only because we would appreciate it so much, but because it would also be enjoyed by so many others who gather there so often with us. My kids would be THRILLED and it would really encourage our family. I am a single working mom, going to school, volunteering in various community organizations and active in church. The last three years have been filled with many unexpected challenges which included basically starting over again in an older, smaller home and giving up many of the 'extras' life afforded at one time. Regardless of the challenges my kids have been strong, positive, supportive, and maintained excellent attitudes. They are the love of my life. While I have two sons in college, my daughters are still living at home for a while and I know they would be VERY excited and proud to have a new kitchen. We keep our house open to friends and family at all times. We welcome any opportunity to use our home to serve our church and others. Often we host dozens of friends on Sunday evenings for food and fellowship at which time our kitchen, small as it is, becomes Grand Central Station! As you can see the ovens and stove are original to the kitchen. The countertops have cracks, the vinyl floors have several cracks and slits, and the cabinets are thick with paint which chips off every time we force them to close all the way. I could go on, but I don't want to sound ungrateful. We have so much to be thankful for, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to at least try to win this for my kids because it will be a very long time before we can afford to make any changes. Thank you in advance for considering our kitchen for the makeover. While we keep it clean and work hard to keep it up, and I am sure it may not look as 'run down' or cluttered as some, trust me it is quite old. It could really use some tender loving care that would bless many in the process. Please vote for our kitchen!! Thank you! |
